VDAB orders a new e-learning production "Projecten, ik doe mee!"

After ordering an e-learning module on telephoning in English, "professional calls", VDAB (Flemish Public Employment and vocational training Service) orders another e-learning module, "Projecten, ik doe mee!" with U&I Learning.

In this e-learning module, job seekers and employees learn all about handling projects and working on a project-based method. This training is not intented for project leaders, but rather for all people who work together on a project, in some way or another. In this module all material will be explained combined with a lot graphical support, clear animations and exercises.

Eandis calls on U&I Learning's services to restructure and rewrite the Energy expert training syllabus.

The Flemish government obliges Eandis to annually perform a fixed number of energy audits or energy scans. These audits are executed by external Energy experts. U&I Learning signs important framework contract with the European Commission

U&I Learning, the Belgian e-learning integrator, active in Belgium, the Netherlands, and France, has signed a contract with the Directorate-General for Informatics (DIGIT) of the European Commission for the delivery of e-learning services. This contract was awarded to U&I Learning after an open call for tender procedure.

U&I Learning will not only be responsible for the design and development of bespoke e-learning modules, but also for the design of blended learning and virtual classroom material. The goal of the framework contract is to train end-users of the European Commission and the European Institutions in the use of software applications that are provided by the European Institutions.

The framework contract has a estimated value of maximum 7,2 Million Euro and will be valid for a maximum period of 4 years, split into an initial period of 2 years and a renewal two times every year.

Our revenue (unaudited) reached in 2008 12 million Euro with an EBITDA of 2,1 million Euro. These figures, compared with 2007, represent a strong growth of 33% in revenue and 28% in EBITDA. For 2009, thanks to the rewarding of long term customer contracts in 2008 (Infrabel, European Commission,….) the company forecasts a modest revenue growth to 13 million Euro.

Payment of the third block of FSR shares

U&I Learning, the Ghent-based e-learning integrator operating in Belgium, the Netherlands and France announces that a deal is closed with the FSR shareholders in acquiring and paying the third and final block of shares of FSR/U&I Learning the Netherlands.

The purchase and sale agreement between U&I Learning and FSR, currently known as U&I Learning the Netherlands, was signed at the end of 2006. This agreement covered that for taking over the third block of shares, the sellers could choose between cash payment or payment in shares of U&I Learning.

Today, U&I Learning closed a deal with Mr. Maarten Franken, representative of Maarten Franken Management B.V., the main shareholder of FSR/U&I Learning the Netherlands. This agreement entails that the final block of shares will be completely paid in new shares of U&I Learning.

To do so, capital will be increased through issuing 186.950 new shares with an issue price of €6,88 per share. The new shares are expected to be officially quoted on the Free Market of Euronext Brussels on 27th January 2009.

Francis Declercq, chairman of U&I Learning, emphasizes: “With this transaction Mr. Maarten Franken puts his full trust in the future of U&I Learning. Ghent, 29 August 2008 – U&I Learning, the Ghent-based e-learning integrator operating in Belgium, the Netherlands and France announces its biannual results which confirms the company’s extensive growth.

On 30 June 2008, the consolidated revenues were €6.060.077,74 million. This is 43 % higher than the first six months of 2007. The company’s EBIT amounts to €859.600,81 in the first six months of 2008 which is 59,7% higher than on 30 June 2007. Earnings before taxes were €736.514,7 in the first six months of 2008 of which €666.949,77 can be assigned to the group as opposed to €337.069 in the first six months of 2007.

U&I Learning help organisations to transfer their knowledge to younger generation

Steeds meer bedrijven zien oude werknemers wegens pensioengerechtigde leeftijd vertrekken. Met hen vertrekt vaak ook kennis en ervaring uit de onderneming. Het Gentse U&I Learning helpt bedrijven met de overdracht van kennis tussen werknemers. In het tweede kwartaal sleepte de e-learning integrator een groot contract in de wacht met Infrabel, de beheerder van het Belgische spoorwegennet.

(tijd) – ‘Het contract met Infrabel was erg belangrijk voor ons’, zegt gedelegeerd bestuurder Francis Declercq. De overeenkomst loopt over drie jaren en levert U&I Learning 3 miljoen euro op. Ter vergelijking: in 2007 bedroeg de geconsolideerde omzet van de groep ongeveer 9 miljoen euro. ‘Wij focussen steeds meer op grote organisaties die nood hebben aan kennisoverdracht. Zij hebben het meest te maken met vergrijzing, waardoor nuttige kennis het bedrijf plots verlaat.’

Hoe pakken jullie dat dan aan bij die bedrijven? Hoe stappen jullie naar hen toe?
Declercq: ‘Vooral via marketing. Daarna praten we met de klant over Information Mapping (IM), één van onze sterke wapens, dankzij de overname van Atek enkele jaren geleden. IM is de methodologie die ervoor zorgt dat een reeks schrijvers een brok informatie op eenzelfde manier gaan analyseren, structureren en opnieuw presenteren in een meer overzichtelijke vorm. Dat wordt dan nagelezen en goedgekeurd. Er zijn altijd meerdere schrijvers en correctors bij een bepaald document. Het gaat bij IM dus niet om software, maar om een denkproces.’

Jullie herwerken dus een bedrijfsdocument en halen er de belangrijkste punten uit voor de lezer.
Declercq: ‘Klopt. Dat vergroot de leesbaarheid van documenten en zorgt voor tijdsbesparing. Wat valt op bij IM? Minder woorden, duidelijkere structuur, opsommingen,… terwijl de essentie hetzelfde blijft. De lezer kan de inhoud van de tekst sneller opnemen en beter onthouden.
Naast deze diensten leveren we ook een stukje technologie, voor het beheren van die kennis. Een deel van de technologie zit bij onszelf, een stuk hebben we verworven via de overnames in Nederland en Frankrijk en verder werken we samen met technologiebedrijven als Adobe en Outstart.’

Zijn dat geen concurrenten?
Declercq: ‘Ze bieden concurrende producten aan. Verder is bijvoorbeeld Adobe op zoek naar partijen zoals wij om hun producten naar de markt te brengen.
Daarnaast werken ook kleine bedrijven die op hun website e-learning aanbieden op onze markt. Maar voor grote contracten, waar wij toch vooral naar op zoek zijn, zijn bedrijven als Deloitte, IBM en Cegeka onze voornaamste concurrenten. Enkele jaren geleden konden wij een project als Infrabel niet binnenhalen. Wij hadden wel de methodologie, maar niet de spankracht om het te doen.’

En hoe komt het dat jullie die nu wel hebben?
Declercq: ‘Nu kunnen we zowel producten als diensten naar de noden van de klant aanbieden. Er komt steeds meer vraag naar oplossingen voor kennisoverdracht. Wij willen een klant aantrekken, een klein pilootproject bij hem starten en dat dan verder uitbouwen.
Wij hebben 120 werknemers in de drie takken (België, Nederland en Frankrijk, red.), dus er zijn recurrente inkomsten en contracten nodig om onze groei te ondersteunen. Het gaat dan vooral om taalkundigen, onderwijskundigen, en technische schrijvers. Verder zijn we altijd op zoek naar burgerlijke ingenieurs die graag schrijven. Onze werknemers zijn hoogopgeleid, anders kun je zulke projecten niet uitvoeren.

Zijn die nog eenvoudig te vinden?
Declercq: 'Technische schrijvers zijn moeilijk te vinden. Ingenieurs die graag schrijven vind je niet op elke straathoek. Die mensen zijn niet enkel schaars, maar er is nog eens veel concurrentie om ze aan te trekken. Dat zorgt voor een spanningsveld, omdat onze mensen worden gelokt door grote bedrijven.'

Jullie bestaan iets langer dan 10 jaar. Hoe zullen de volgende 10 jaar er volgens u uitzien?
Declercq: ‘10 jaar is misschien wel heel ver in de toekomst. Dit jaar concentreren we ons vooral op organische groei en nieuwe contracten, zoals deze bij Infrabel. Ook de overheid moet de volgende jaren het vertrek van een hele golf babyboomers op moet vangen.
Steeds meer mensen veranderen ook van job. Jonge werknemers blijven drie tot vier jaar in een bedrijf en stappen dan naar een ander. Bedrijven staan voor de uitdaging om dat op te vangen en ervoor te zorgen dat de kennis in het bedrijf blijft. Nee, wij zitten in een gunstig marktsegment, en de factoren om onze groei te verzekeren zijn daar. Als we twee tot drie jaar verder kijken, zullen kennisoverdracht en vergrijzing de drijvers van onze groei zijn.’

U&I Learning wins knowledge management contract with Infrabel

Ghent, 13 May 2008 - U&I Learning, the Ghent-based knowledge transfer company with branches in Belgium, the Netherlands and France, has won an important government contract with Infrabel. Infrabel is responsible for the daily exploitation and the infrastructure of the Belgian railways. U&I Learning will introduce an information standard and the technology to rewrite in a consistent way thousands of documents about regulations. This will improve the internal knowledge transfer at Infrabel.

The contract between Infrabel and U&I Learning represents a total sales figure of 3 million Euros, spread over the next 3 years. Thanks to the project with U&I Learning, Infrabel is now on the track of knowledge technology.

De resultaten van 2007

U&I Learning, genoteerd op de Vrije Markt van Euronext Brussel en actief in België, Nederland en Frankrijk, boekte een geconsolideerde omzet van ongeveer € 9 miljoen. Dit betekent een groei tov 2006 van 58%.
De EBITDA groeide van € 1 miljoen in 2006 tot € 1,6 miljoen in 2007 met een stabiele EBITDA-marge van 18%.
De courante nettowinst (vóór uitzonderlijke resultaten en vóór afschrijving goodwill) bedraagt ongeveer 600.000 Euro (aandeel van de groep).
